Conditions We Treat

Back Pain

Back pain results from working for long periods of time at a desk, repeated lifting, or heavy work. The initial visit involves detailed consultation, orthopedic examination, and posture assessment. X-rays are used if needed to determine the cause of the condition. Decompression therapy, flexion-distraction technique, vibrational massage, and chiropractic adjustments are possible treatments. Cold laser therapy is added to your plan if there is inflammation.

Home exercises, workstation changes, and lifting techniques are also part of the plan. Progress is monitored at follow-up visits so treatment can be adjusted based on how the body responds.

Neck Pain

Neck pain may develop due to bad posture, sitting at the desk, carrying kids, or any kind of daily routine activities. The examination will include history taking, posture analysis, neck curvature check-up, and muscle tightness. X-rays are used if necessary. We also review your workstation to ensure you are using proper ergonomics.

Treatment focuses on restoring healthy movement through spinal adjustments, massages, and exercises that strengthen the deep neck flexors. In most cases, the care plan starts with three visits per week for four weeks. By the end of the first month, most patients are at least 50% pain-free.

Sciatica

Sciatica may arise due to irritation of the sciatic nerve in the lumbar region, or entrapment of the nerve by the piriformis muscle. Orthopedic testing and X-ray imaging, where necessary, can be used to identify the cause of nerve irritation during your physical examination. We do not typically order an MRI right away. If, after four weeks of care, the sciatic symptoms in the legs are still present, we will order an MRI at that point.

Treatment may involve a combination of chiropractic adjustment, trigger point therapy, soft tissue mobilization, hip/glute stretches, and massage as required. Some people may find soft tissue work more beneficial than adjustments, and vice versa.

Whiplash

Whiplash typically happens following a motor vehicle collision or an incident where the neck is abruptly thrown forward and backward. Dr. Ron Merriel reviews prior accidents, previous symptoms, current symptom changes, and whether any symptoms appeared after the collision that were not present beforehand. The treatment plan is adjusted as healing continues. We provide you with clear explanations so you understand what is happening in your body and why symptoms may appear or evolve over time.

If you have sustained an injury in a car accident or are dealing with symptoms from whiplash, our office can assist you with your evaluation and rehabilitation.

Scoliosis

Scoliosis generally falls into two types: one present from birth, and another that develops as degeneration puts more pressure on a specific side of the spine. Whichever side the spine curves is the side that is usually tight and has spasms. Hence, treatment revolves around doing adjustments and exercises on that area alongside electrical stimulation of muscles to relax them before stretching and adjustment. Our care at Go Greenlight Chiropractic focuses on spinal balance, comfort, and function rather than forceful correction.

Many mild to moderate cases of scoliosis can be managed conservatively. An early chiropractic evaluation may help guide appropriate care and support better long-term spinal function.

Herniated Disc

A herniated disc often causes severe pain, sometimes enough that walking into the office is difficult without a cane, a walker, or help from another person. Pain can spread through the leg to the foot, sometimes with weakness in those muscles, and bearing down, such as during a sneeze, tends to make it worse.

An MRI gives a clear picture of the underlying cause of herniated disc cases. Based on your findings, the treatment plan may include decompression, spinal adjustments, and stretching of associated muscles. One patient came to our clinic using a walker and, after four to six months of care, was able to return to most daily activities without ongoing low back or leg pain.

Vertigo

Vertigo in many patients is often caused by small crystals that become lodged in the inner ear canals, and many improve with the Epley maneuver, a repositioning technique sometimes needed more than once. Vertigo can also stem from tension or misalignment in the cervical spine, especially near the top vertebra at the base of the skull, which can bring on that spinning feeling when turning the head. Evaluation includes a look at posture and habits, such as sleeping face down with the head turned, since these can add ongoing tension in the neck.

Headaches and Migraines

Many headaches begin with tension in the neck, poor posture, or spending long hours looking at a computer. During your visit, we review your symptoms, posture, muscle tension, and the natural curve of your neck. X-rays may be recommended when clinically necessary to better understand what is contributing to your headaches.

Treatment focuses on improving neck movement with chiropractic adjustments, massage, stretching, and simple changes to daily habits, such as taking regular breaks, improving workstation setup, and avoiding positions that place unnecessary strain on your neck.

Knee Pain

During a knee pain evaluation, we often look at the whole leg. Tight muscles behind the joint and imbalances in the surrounding muscles are common contributors, along with arch problems in the feet. Chiropractic treatment for knee pain may include orthotics or exercises to strengthen the arches, along with adjustments to the feet, ankles, and knees to help everything move properly again. Specific exercises, such as side steps, walking backward, and strengthening the shins, quads, and hamstrings, help stabilize the joint and support it as it heals. Muscle imbalance is behind a lot of knee arthritis.

Arm & Leg Pain

Pain, numbness, or tingling in the arms or legs can sometimes begin with irritation or compression of a nerve in the spine. During your examination, we evaluate your symptoms, movement, posture, and nerve function to better understand where the problem is coming from. X-rays or other imaging may be recommended when clinically appropriate.

Depending on the findings, we perform adjustments, soft tissue therapy, stretching, and massage. Dr. Ron Merriel will also recommend strengthening exercises to support recovery. Your progress is monitored throughout care so your treatment plan can be adjusted as your symptoms change.

Work Injuries

Work-related injuries often develop from repetitive movements, lifting, prolonged sitting, or spending hours at a computer. Your evaluation includes a detailed health history, physical examination, and posture assessment. Treatment is based on the cause of your symptoms and may include chiropractic adjustments, gentle spinal stretching, and exercises to improve movement and support recovery.

We also discuss workstation ergonomics, lifting techniques, and regular movement breaks to help reduce ongoing stress on your body while you continue your daily activities.

Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain from repetitive motion, such as the throwing action in baseball pitching, is treated with gentle adjustments and laser therapy to support healing. Extremity work, including the shoulders, elbows, and wrists, is part of care when overuse or restricted movement is contributing to the pain.

Shockwave therapy is often considered a strong option for shoulder issues, though when it is not available, laser is used instead. One young pitcher with shoulder soreness from repetitive throwing improved after a course of gentle adjustments and laser at each visit, with symptoms easing as it recovered.

Carpal Tunnel

Carpal tunnel syndrome can develop from repetitive hand and wrist movements, especially during computer work. In some cases, symptoms are also related to nerve irritation in the neck, creating pressure in more than one location.

During your evaluation, we assess your symptoms, posture, neck, wrist, and daily work habits to identify contributing factors. Treatment may include chiropractic adjustments to the neck and wrist, stretching, strengthening exercises, and ergonomic recommendations to improve your workstation. Regular follow-up visits help monitor your progress and adjust your treatment as needed.
