Custom orthotics
Available at Lake Forest, San Diego, and Spring Valley
Custom orthotics are shoe inserts made to the shape of your feet to support how you stand, walk and run. Your chiropractor may suggest them when the way your feet meet the ground is adding strain to your feet, knees, hips or lower back.

Why your feet matter to your spine
Your feet are the base of your body. If an arch collapses, a foot rolls in or out, or one side takes more load than the other, the effect can travel upward and change how your ankles, knees, hips and lower back move.
Custom orthotics support the foot in a more balanced position. Unlike off-the-shelf insoles, they are made for your feet, based on how they are shaped and how they move.
When your chiropractor may suggest them
Orthotics may be part of your plan if you have:
- Flat feet or very high arches
- Heel or arch pain, such as plantar fasciitis
- Knee, hip or lower back pain that seems linked to how you stand or walk
- Uneven wear on your shoes
- Pain that builds when you are on your feet for long periods
- Sports or running strain that keeps returning
Orthotics work best as part of a broader plan that can include adjustments of the spine and extremities, soft tissue work and exercises.
How fitting works
Your chiropractor looks at your posture, how you stand and how you walk, and examines your feet, ankles, knees and hips. Your feet are then measured or scanned so the inserts can be made to their shape.
When your orthotics are ready, your chiropractor will check the fit, explain how to wear them and suggest how to break them in gradually. Follow-up visits are a chance to make sure they feel right.

About custom orthotics at Greenlight.
What are custom orthotics?
They are shoe inserts made to the shape of your feet to support a more balanced position when you stand, walk or run.
How are they different from store-bought insoles?
Store-bought insoles come in general sizes and shapes. Custom orthotics are made from measurements or a scan of your own feet.
Can orthotics help back pain?
When back, hip or knee pain is linked to how your feet move, supporting the feet may reduce some of that strain. Your chiropractor will look for that link during your exam.
How long does it take to get used to them?
Most people wear them for short periods at first and build up over a week or two. Your chiropractor will guide you.
Which offices offer custom orthotics?
Custom orthotics are available at our Lake Forest, San Diego, and Spring Valley offices.
